Installation and Setup
1) Fill the pool or hot tub with a pre-filter to remove unwanted metals, sediments, and odors (available from your ClearBlue retailer).
2) Make sure water is properly balanced:
pH: 7.2 – 7.8
Alkalinity: 80 – 120ppm
Calcium Hardness: 200 – 400ppm
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): 500 – 2,000ppm
Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid): 30 – 50ppm
Phosphates: 0 – 200ppb
3) Install the tee on the plumbing return line, after the pump, filter, and heater, and before the chlorinator or salt cell. Make sure it is oriented correctly. Make sure the cell cable reaches the controller.

4) Mount the controller. It can be mounted with velcro or using the two screw mounts. If you use velcro, make sure to place it over the screw mounts and not over the model information. This information will be needed for support and warranty claims. Velcro will stick to stucco, brick, wood, or anything flat or textured, but you must press it in place for 30 seconds. Make sure the cell cable reaches the controller.
5) Plug in or wire up the controller. For 240V wiring, cut off the plug and wire to the line side of the panel or timer. There is nothing to switch on the controller for 240V service—it is auto-sensing. The controller should always have power, even when the pump is not running.
Maintenance
The ClearBlue system will do most of the work for you. Once the copper level has reached 0.2 ppm, add one chlorine/bromine tablet per week (or maintain 0.5-1 ppm chlorine/bromine) and shock once weekly. You can use either chlorine or non-chlorine shock.
It is essential to test the water parameters weekly and adjust if necessary:
pH: 7.2 – 7.8
Alkalinity: 80 – 120ppm
Calcium Hardness: 200 – 400ppm
Chlorine/bromine: 0.5 – 1ppm
Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid): 30 – 50ppm
Phosphates: 0 – 200ppb
Copper: 0.2 – 0.4ppm
You can take your water to your local pool store for testing or try our Mineral Pool test strips at home (available from your ClearBlue retailer).
