When do I change my pool ionizer cell?

The ClearBlue mineral cell will last 6 – 12 months in a pool and 2 – 3 years in a spa depending on the size and usage of your pool or spa. In a pool, the first cell will go quicker because the minerals need to ramp up in the water. Once they have ramped up, there are very stable, even over the winter. So, subsequent cells will last longer.
If you have the controller with the RED number screen, the ‘Ionizing’ light on the ClearBlue will go OFF when it’s time to replace your cell:

If you have the controller with the BLUE number screen, the ‘Ionizing’ or ‘Mineral Action’ light will FLASH RED when it’s time to replace your cell.
